A new denture almost always feels strange for the first week or two — that's completely normal. Your tongue and cheeks need time to learn the new shape in your mouth, and it's common to notice extra saliva or a slight change in how you speak at first.

Start with softer foods and work back up to your normal diet gradually, chewing evenly on both sides. Take the denture out at night to give your gums a rest, and clean it every day with a denture brush rather than a regular toothbrush, which can be too abrasive.

If a sore spot doesn't settle after a few days, don't keep pushing through it — come in and we'll adjust the fit. A well-fitted denture shouldn't cause ongoing pain.
